PAST EXHIBITIONS

THE DANCE OF BECOMING, 2025

Módulo Twist Gallery, Lisbon

The Dance of Becoming invites us to shed our expectations and discover a new perspective. Maria Who's paintings do not seek to fix life, but rather to capture reality in its movement, opening a space where looking itself becomes something new.

LANDSCAPES, 2025

CNAP Galeria de Arte, Lisbon

Presented as a duo with Leonor Janeiro at CNAP gallery in Lisbon in 2025, this collection navigates the threshold between terrestrial forms and fleeting consciousness. Through a shared dialogue, the artists investigate the landscape not as a static view, but as a site of constant transformation. The work invites an intimate reading of memory, where organic structures dissolve and reform, capturing the quiet tension between the permanence of stone and the fluidity of human recollection.

URSA SÉRIES, 2025

"Ursa Séries" is an ongoing exploration of the Portuguese landscape through plein air and studio painting. The project began with small études of the Ursa rocks—a place of personal significance for me, where the raw beauty of nature reveals itself through dramatic forms, vivid color, and emotional resonance. These initial studies marked a return to close observation and a deepening connection with the land.Over time, the series has grown into a broader body of work that captures ephemeral moments—the sparkle of sunlight on water, the warmth of late afternoon light, the stillness held in a horizon. Working both outdoors and in the studio, I focus on translating sensory experiences into visual language, using color, atmosphere, and gesture to evoke the feeling of being present in a place.
